ERT Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione is a National Theatre directed by Valter Malosti. One of its main activities is production. With almost 200 shows produced, ERT has worked with Masters of the Italian and international scene, and with young directors and companies. ERT productions have been performed in the most prestigious theatres and festivals in Italy and worldwide.

ERT has an intense programming activity. Its head office is in Modena, but ERT also works in the cities of Bologna, Cesena, Vignola and Castelfranco Emilia where it manages seven theatres, which are: Teatro Storchi (851 seats) in Modena; Teatro Arena del Sole (two venues, 896 and 182 seats) and Teatro delle Moline (50 seats) in Bologna; Teatro Bonci in Cesena (711 seats); Teatro Fabbri in Vignola (466 seats); Teatro Dadà in Castelfranco Emilia (299 seats).

ERT international activity ranges from VIE Festival – an international festival that focuses on the contemporary scene – to the partnership in European projects and international networks.

Last but not least, ERT manages “Iolanda Gazzerro” Theatre School aimed at young actors and playwrights.

Included among the Italian National Theatres since 2015, ERT is a permanent theatre production institution. With a range of more than 150 produced shows, it supports theatre artists while developing a quest for new forms and methods to meet a broader range of audience and deliver uncommon cultural stimulation. Among the directors ERT has collaborated with are: Giancarlo Cobelli, Pippo Delbono, Cesare Lievi, Thierry Salmon, Federico Tiezzi, Enrique Vargas, Bob Wilson, Eimuntas Nekrošius, Massimo Castri, Alvis Hermanis, Antonio Latella, Kostantin Bogomolov. ERT shows have been performed in the most prestigious theatres and festivals in Italy and worldwide (Amsterdam, Avignon, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Caracas, Leuven, Madrid, Montreal, Moscow, Beijing, Porto Alegre, Sao Paulo, Zurich).

One of the main activities of Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione is in the field of theatre education. ERT manages the Scuola di Teatro Iolanda Gazzerro for young artists, and a one-year specialization course open to candidates having a theatre school diploma or any professional theatre experience.
