Loosely inspired by William Golding’s novel Lord of the Flies, the creation DILUVIO explores shipwreck as a condition of the present, marked by profound fractures and fragilities.
Through a process of stage rewriting that shifts the original narrative, setting and timeframe, the young castaways’ desire for salvation dissolves, giving way to a new perception of shipwreck: no longer an ending, but a threshold from which to imagine the future, a drive towards the creation of spaces of belonging and connection.
In DILUVIO, dance and music unleash their soothing, lysergic and cathartic power, becoming a territory for the liberation of bodies. Drawing on the sounds, imagery and aesthetics of techno, trance and alternative rock countercultures, the stage becomes a fluid and immersive space, eventually transforming into a nightclub at the twilight of the world. A rhythmic downpour of lights, sounds, bodies, voices and sweat: a sensory vortex into which audiences are invited to plunge and take part in a ritual experience of transformation and collective celebration.
