I due gemelli veneziani
(The Two Venetian Twins)
About this event
The Two Venetian Twins is a classic of the Italian theatre, a perfect entertainment machine. The plot is made up of duels, loves, escapes, discoveries, in which the magnificent invention of two twins physically the same but with opposite characters stands out: one is silly and the other is shrewd. At the same time, this text is also a black farce, subversive, disturbing, about family, identity, love (even brutal, violently erotic, incestuous) and death.
The play by Carlo Goldoni was successful from its debut in 1747 and in fact the show immediately went on an international tour.
Its popularity stems from the liveliness of the plot and the game of misunderstandings in a scenic dynamic designed to enhance the skills of the actors on stage.
The show directed by Valter Malosti, one of the main protagonists of the Italian scene and new director of ERT National Theatre, focuses on the physical work of the actors, the study of the mask and the contemporary research on the musicality of the Italian language.
