Marta Ciappina is M., a dancer preparing to take her leave from the stage, at the centre of a series of choreographic works created specifically for her. Every day in the rehearsal room seems as though it could be the last; every fragment becomes a possible variation on her farewell.
Winner of the Danza&Danza Award 2022 and the UBU Award 2023 for Best Actress/Performer, Ciappina places at the heart of the project the moment when a career appears to be coming to an end, yet continues to search for new forms, encounters and possibilities.
Conceived by Marta Ciappina, Marco D’Agostin and Damien Modolo, the project entrusts the dramaturgy to D’Agostin and brings together some of the most important voices in the Italian and international performing arts scene. Silvia Gribaudi, Francesca Pennini / CollettivO CineticO, Sotterraneo, Emio Greco | Pieter C. Scholten, as well as D’Agostin himself, are invited to create a piece for M. without ever having met her before.
Each contribution becomes a page in this collection of farewells: a choreographic “blind date” in which different perspectives, aesthetics and imaginaries come together to create a score about endings, survival and the desire to remain on stage a little longer.
