BOW (study)
About this event
BOW is a choreographic project by Gaetano Palermo and Michele Petrosino that begins with a simple yet deeply meaningful gesture: the bow. Through a movement language embodied by the performers, the performance explores its tensions, ambiguities and possible variations, examining a gesture that can express respect, submission, ritual and power.
The bow is explored through its theatrical, religious and social uses, revealing what happens when a body bends before someone or something. Self-abnegation and salvation, servility and power, obligation and desire for connection coexist within the gesture. Moving between turning inward and opening towards the other, between subjective intimacy and public representation, BOW creates an unstable threshold where posture, relationships and power overlap.
The bow thus becomes both a concrete and metaphorical figure: a minimal, recognisable gesture which, as it takes shape, reveals its political, psychological and ritual nature.
