Il Ministero della Solitudine

Who can be defined as ‘lonely’ and consequently belong to a recognized category? Is there a subsidy for solitude? What does the subsidy consist of and who is entitled to it?
2018. Great Britain. Creation of Ministry of Loneliness, in charge of solving social problems related to loneliness.
Starting from this event, Lacasadargilla Company – one of the most interesting Italian Companies of the contemporary scene, winner of numerous national awards – embodies a study on living communities and the conflicts that cross them.
The dramaturgy is an original writing for five actors, dry, structured by flashes, encounters, incidents, composed of words and physical actions close to dance.
Ministry of Loneliness is a show that investigates loneliness and its forms: a sense of inability, the difficulty of desire to find a match. A play that evokes that loneliness that sinks because what happened is irreversible or no longer interests anyone.

On that thread that touches despair and pity, the Ministry of loneliness is able to do something that is increasingly rare: it allows us to suffer in front of our small or big torments and to melt ourselves into a feeling of collective embrace, holding a karaoke mic. Where, if not in art, can we rediscover the importance of feeling part of a weak humanity?
