Two works by Vittorio Pagani explore what it means to be watched, remembered and transformed into an image.
Superstella is an existential investigation oscillating between chaos and order, between the desire for wholeness and the fascination with perpetual becoming. An artist must start creating again, deciding what to do, whom to do it for and how much space to leave for their own desires. This creative limbo, made up of backstage spaces and future perspectives, turns the present into a place where nothing is created and nothing is destroyed, but everything is transformed. Inspired by the world of film stars and in dialogue with Federico Fellini’s 8½, the performance intertwines video, sampling, dance and spoken word.
27 (Posthumous Work) concludes the Icon Trilogy, begun with A Solo in the Spotlights and continued with Superstella. The title refers to the “27 Club”, the term used to remember artists who died at the age of twenty-seven – from Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix to Jim Morrison and Amy Winehouse – and who have since become icons. Also inspired by the poetics of Abbas Kiarostami and Agnès Varda, the performance focuses on the moment when the myth begins to crack.
