BLOT—Body Line of Thought
Presentation: 24 maggio 2025 // Teatro delle Passioni
Recent environmental events underscore the importance of viewing the body as part of its inner ecosystem. BLOT—Body Line of Thought, a groundbreaking hybrid show, embodies this concept through a trance-inducing performance by nude bodies. This innovative piece, created by Romanian-Canadian duo Simona Deaconescu and Vanessa Goodman, explores the relationship between movement and the bacteria within us. It highlights shared traits between humans and animals—sweating, scent, reproduction, and immunity—revealing how bacteria influence these aspects and connect us to the Earth.
Premiering in 2022 at the National Centre for Dance in Bucharest, BLOT benefits from the insights of visual arts curator Olivia Nițis and feminist bio-artist Marta de Menezes. Featuring two talented Romanian dancers, Simona Dabija and Maria Luiza Dimulescu, the performance examines our unique microbial footprints, constantly altered through interactions and resource exchanges. BLOT, a thought-provoking performance, challenges audiences to rethink the concept of identity, emphasizing the continuous interplay between our inner ecosystems and the environment.
