Teatro
About this event
An installation in motion, an act of inner resistance but also the latest chapter of a practice of ‘theatre on the move’ initiated by Cuocolo/Bosetti in 2013 in Melbourne, where the couple lived and worked. An itinerant, immersive and surprising performance that leads to the exploration of the theatre building, its public and more private spaces. A woman guides the spectators on a sort of initiatory journey through places usually forbidden to the uninitiated. Halls, dressing rooms, storerooms, under-floors reveal secrets and unknown details, but also memories of those who inhabited those places in the past.
Thus the public history of the theatre building mingles with the countless private stories of those who lived there, even if only for brief periods.
A dizzying and fascinating device, consistent with the artistic research that the Italian-Australian couple has been conducting for at least two decades: “the personal and collective biography is at the centre of our work, like an obscure celestial body, invisible and at the same time investigable in every detail by the gravitational attraction that exerts on its satellites’. A poetics focused on the mechanisms of construction of cultural identity, the value of memory and the role of art in shaping collective consciousness in contemporary society.
Extracts from press review
HYSTRIO – Laura Bevione – March 2024
(…) An itinerary through a sumptuous theatre building that is, in truth, an intense and concentrated journey into a memory that is always vibrant, certainly theatrical but, above all, personal.
GAZZETTA DI MODENA – Andrea Marcheselli – 29/11/2023
(…) The performance thus evolves into an exploratory walk through memories, emotional states, and individual consciousness, becoming therefore a different experience for each participant, one of absolute intimacy.
